The Author of Tomorrow is designed to find the adventure writers of the future. Part of the Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize, it is an annual competition open to young people, aged 21 and under, who have completed a short piece of adventure writing in English.
The award is run in partnership with Worldreader, a charity on a mission to make everyone a reader. Each year, the young writers shortlisted for the Author of Tomorrow have their work published in Worldreader's open library. Written by young people, for young people to read, and judged by a panel of young readers, we hope the Author of Tomorrow will play its part in improving global literacy levels.
The Author of Tomorrow will open for submissions in early 2019. Unlike previous years, in 2019 young writers will be able to enter the competition within set age categories.
Previously, the stories were required to be 1500-5000 words with a £1,500 prize to be won by one writer.
