The Errand Boy: North by Garry Cochrane
Bruce Dunkeld is a mid-career soldier who makes a mistake out in the desert of Pakistan and as penance finds himself running ‘errands’ for a general back in the UK. He is sent to a mysterious lighthouse on a remote Scottish island and soon finds himself fighting a far-right attempt to unearth an old World War II weapon that could reshape the face of Europe.
On his mission he makes some unlikely allies including: a Norwegian trawler crew, a beautiful Celtic journalist, a no-nonsense female army captain and someone who may very well be playing both sides.
About the Author: Garry, 50, lives in Otley, West Yorkshire. He wrote his debut thriller over the last 3 years, mainly on long runs on Otley Chevin and Ilkley Moor; after taking a night school course in novel writing.

This also led to a poetry course and an unexpected foray into writing running poems and more recently about life in Lockdown Britain. He has tested his nerves at live open-mic events and some equally challenging Zoom ones. He has an MSc in Sport & Exercise Psychology, has run 20 marathons and is currently working on a sequel to his first Bruce Dunkeld adventure.
