PODCAST: Ed Stafford and Alex Bescoby on That Wilbur Smith Show

That Wilbur Smith Show is a podcast about the life and legacy of the legendary adventure writer Wilbur Smith, and about how a taste of adventure can help you think differently about your life.

Wilbur Smith lived a life of adventure as well as writing them and Foundation Director, Georgina, has stepped in to host a mini-series of the podcast with the aim to bring you closer to adventurers, explorers and storytellers who embody this spirit of adventure. These are the people who had a calling when they were young and could never have turned their back on the opportunities saying yes to adventure brings.

The first guests of the mini-series are explorer and survivalist Ed Stafford and filmmaker Alex Bescoby who discuss their love of storytelling, navigating sticky situations, the kindness of strangers as well as share their advice for aspiring adventurers.

About Ed: Ed Stafford is an explorer and survivalist. He holds the world record for walking the length of the Amazon, from source to sea, and since then has been (purposefully) marooned in some of the most inhospitable locations in the World and gone up against some of the toughest survival experts in extraordinary physical challenges, all on camera. You'll probably recognise him from the telly as he's been in front of you on his own YouTube channel, Channel 4, Channel 5, Discovery, and the BBC.

About Alex: Alex Bescoby is a filmmaker and historian who steps in front of the camera sometimes too. He’s overlanded the 21,000km from Singapore to London in an antique Land Rover, inspired by The First Overland in 1955, a journey which David Attenborough said, "could not be made again today". Alex has helmed award- winning documentaries that delve in the incredible true story of Burma’s lost royal family and the forgotten veterans of Burma who fought for the British during World War Two and runs his own Grammar Productions

Sit back, tune in and let these two incredible in-the-flesh adventurers transport you...
